Ryan is an internationally-renowned rock music photographer from the United States. Ryan grew up in the Deep South. We’re not talking about the vacation havens of Florida or the Atlanta you saw in a hip hop music video. We’re talking about Birmingham, Alabama – the gritty South that has long been known for steel mills, attack dogs, fire hoses and little else. Growing up in the infamous “Magic City” left a lot to Ryan’s imagination, what with hanging around downtown and soaking up the turn-of-the-century architecture and decades of urban blight, which further developed his talent of bringing energy and color out of ordinary scenes. With his unique style, Ryan embraces predecessors of southern culture like William Eggleston and Ernest Withers as well as personal influences like Glen E. Friedman and Charles Peterson to create a new, bold take on classic southern-gothic photography. Ryan captures the grit and energy of today’s American music scene much like Lee Friedlander’s Atlantic Records work during the 50’s and 60’s or Anton Corbijn’s work with U2 and Joy Division.

Although you wouldn’t guess it from meeting this southern gentleman, Ryan has photographed some of the most critically-acclaimed artists of our generation. From shooting the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Paramore, Blink-182, Green Day, Tegan and Sara, My Chemical Romance, Josh Homme/Queens of the Stone Age, Underoath, Sonic Youth, Patton Oswalt and David Cross, to being printed in magazines like Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, Spin and Playboy or periodicals like The New York Times, The New York Post, The Chicago Reader and The Chicago Sun-Times, Ryan has also toured with the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Paramore, Taking Back Sunday, Against Me!, and Mastodon, allowing him the opportunity for up close and personal access to these musicians and a chance to showcase their truly unique personalities through photography in a way that words alone cannot.

As we came to him on a short notice before his trip to our nation’s capital Washington DC

We have a mission for you; (He stares at us with a puzzled look)

Well Yaniv, decided to take on the daring “challenge” of successfully bringing his gear on board using his very own Naneu Urban Gear U220 Camera Bag.  Needless to say we were very excited.

The Very next Day he is getting ready to Leave on his flight and tell us right before he leaves wish me luck guys.

Countless hours pass by as we waited for news about the daring attempt, as the flight from Orlando to DC was delayed due to foul weather.

Growing impatient we sent several emails and placed calls with no answer, we thought oh no Yaniv has been compromised, until this compelling email with just the words

If you are experiencing the same issue, here is a  quick solution. The images below illustrate how to loop the excess strap material back through the top slot in the buckle. Doing so will prevent the straps from slipping:

That’s it! The buckes will now hold up and the webbing will not slip up.

Introducing the K3L.

The addition of “L” for the obvious; Limonene.. Licorice.. Luzerne.. Largemouth Bass……. actually, “L” is for “Laptop”.

The K3L is a full-course meal for your mind and body. To start, let’s whet your appetite with the new mesh water bottle sleeve located on the padded hipbelt. It’s both easy to access your water, and can be packed away. Sparking or still water, please choose your guilty preference. For the full experience, enjoy some of your favorite audible frequencies through the integrated MP3/CD padded pocket and headphone grommet, served with a chilled side of the AirFlow Suspension system (patent pending). The field-tested and proven AirFlow Suspension is made up of three spring steel stays and air mesh, allowing the flexible and lightweight suspension to bring the cool air in to move that warm air out, while keeping the pack off of your chiseled back.

As a permanent chef special on the K3L, we’ve added a dedicated laptop compartment to fit most 15.4″ laptops*. To compliment the laptop space, we trimmed the compartment with waterproof zippers to prevent any disasters that a Cumulonimbus cloud may have been plotting. As another line of defense, you can utilize the concealed water resistant rainfly, which can quickly be deployed in the event of an sneak rain attack. Please request how well you would like your K3L cooked by indicating whether you would like one of two colors available; our standard Black, or the new Navy Blue. Both the Black and the Navy Blue colors will be available in our newly launched 1680-D ballistic nylon fabric, as mentioned in a post below. The K3L is an improvement upon our luxury work-horse K3, so you can expect the same great features and an even better experience than you remember from the last time.

Assuming you had a weekend full of vigor, and a sweltering Canada day.. on deck… July 4th.

Our new friend Andrew Benson, who sports a fantastic name and even better body of photographic work, has been added to our “Friends of Naneu Pro section”, imagine that. Check out his stuff, for your viewing pleasure. Andrew came knocking on our digital email door, offering some interesting thoughts for improvements to be made to one of our bags, after he personally made some modifications to the Military Ops Alpha backpack he bought for his photo travel adventure through South America. We took one look at the photo he sent us (below), took two looks at his website, and the rest is reality.

Here in the Design Department, we’re always listening to your voices with elephant ears and inspecting your writing with observatory telescope eyeglasses. Your words are not going to the bottom of a burlap sack, and never will. The more we hear from you, the closer we can get to tailoring a pack design for your specific needs.

In the very near future we will be releasing some product innovations to the market, which will be sure to shock, to astound, and to leave you questioning who you thought you really were. Maybe you’ll even be tempted to go buy an old wool sweater from your favorite used clothing store.
